Road Safety

Find out how to travel to school safely, whether on foot, by bus, car, or bicycle, including gate entry points and operating hours.

Arrival by foot/public transport: Side Gates 1 and 3, ISH Gate and Road Crossing

In the morning, students who come to school by foot and/or public transport should enter the school via Side Gates 1 and 3 (SG1 and SG3) and the ISH Gate.

They are not allowed to walk through the school’s vehicular main entrance for safety reasons, as there will be a flow of vehicles turning into and out of the school at that time.

  • Always use the pedestrian crossing e.g. zebra crossing, traffic signal lights, overhead bridges and underpasses, where available.

  • Use the designated footpath and/or walkway.

  • Use the pedestrian crossing when crossing Tampines Street 84 and Tampines Street 83. For the safety of your child/ward, please remind them not to use their mobile devices while crossing the road.

  • Wait for the bus/taxi to stop completely before boarding or alighting from a bus/taxi.

  • Never play or stand in the bus bay.

Arrival by private transport:

(i) Main Gate

The main gate is opened from 6.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on a typical school day.

  • Get ready in advance to alight from the vehicle.

  • Alight at the designated drop off point at the foyer.

Reminder for parents/guardians:

  • Adhere to the speed limit of 10 km/h within the school compound.

  • Stay alert for pedestrians who may be walking around your vehicle.

  • Drive forward where possible to maximise the use of the drop-off bay at the school foyer. The sheltered space provided is sufficient to accommodate at least 2 vehicles.

  • Turn left when exiting the school to avoid holding traffic from leaving and entering the school.

(ii) Alighting Points Outside the School

The traffic along Tampines Street 84 builds up from 7.40 a.m. (on Mon, Tue and Thu) and 8.10 a.m. (on Wed and Fri) onwards. To ease the flow of traffic into the school, you may wish to alight your child/ward, at one of the two alighting points:

  • Carpark @ HDB Blk 882 (Opposite the school), take the pedestrian crossing and enter Side Gate 3 (Netball Court)

  • Carpark @ HDB Blk 865 (Behind the school), walk along the sheltered pathway and enter from the Indoor Sports Hall (next to bus stop)

Arrival by Bicycles: SG1 and SG3

For parents/guardians who allow your child/ward to cycle to school, we would like to highlight the following safety rules for our student-cyclists. We seek parents’ involvement in reminding your child of these rules.

In School

  • Dismount at SG1 or SG 3 when entering the school and push the bicycle to the parking bays (on the left of SG1 and opposite the General Office)

General

  • Make sure that the bicycle is in good working condition, e.g. brakes, tyres, lights (front and rear) and bell are working; and chains are secure. Brakeless bicycles are strictly not allowed into the school.

  • Wear protective gear such as a properly secured helmet, shoes, elbow pads and knee pads.

  • Give full attention to ensure safety for self and other cyclists, motorists and pedestrians. Do not use mobile phones and earphones while cycling.

  • Do not cycle across pedestrian crossings. Dismount and push the bicycle and practise proper kerb drills before crossing the road.

  • Use the correct hand signals when turning left or right or when stopping. Show the hand signals in advance to enable other motorists to take appropriate action.

  • Look to see if there are vehicles coming from the left and right before crossing at junctions.

  • Stop the bicycle completely at “Give Way” and “Stop” signs.

  • Do not carry a pillion rider.

  • Do not cycle abreast.

  • Do not ride in a zigzag manner.

Note: The school reserves the right to clamp/withdraw the privileges of the use of bicycles or personal mobility devices, which are operated, parked or managed in a dangerous matter.

Operating Hours of School Gates

(i) Main Gate (for vehicles only)

The main gate is opened from 6.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on a typical school day.

(ii) Side Gates 1 and 3 (SG1 and SG3)

(iii) Side Gate 1 Turnstile

(iv) Side Gate 2 (SG2)

Table of schedule: 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Mon–Fri; 8:40 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Wed and Fri only.

(v) ISH Gate

(vi) ISH Gate Turnstile
